Kamala Harris has said, “When you know what you stand for, you know what to fight for.”
Kamala’s mother raised her to value public service. And since her early days as a state prosecutor, she’s stood and fought “For the People.”
As President, Kamala will fight to defend the personal freedoms of all Americans, and to expand economic opportunities for all.
From a very young age, my parents taught me to treat all people with respect, regardless of our differences.
My Elevator Speech…
Kamala Harris has said, “When you know what you stand for, you know what to fight for.”

From a very young age, my parents taught me to treat all people with respect, regardless of our differences. They both went to work for the federal government in Washington during WWII, and they were proud to do so. For them, it was about service to their country.
After the war, my dad’s job involved promoting democracy abroad. To do so, they called on ordinary American citizens from all walks of life to help. It was called the “People to People” program.
When in school I had to memorize the intro to the Declaration of Independence, I understood better the democracy my dad was working for. To this day, the promise of equality for all and government by and “for the people” is MY religion. It’s what I stand for.
As an adult, I made my career working in museums – first at Colonial Williamsburg and later at Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. What inspired me was teaching students and the public about the development of representative government, the revolution, our country’s founding philosophy and the ongoing work to fulfill the promise of America for everyone.
Our democracy is on the ballot in November, and now I must fight to ensure it survives. If Kamala is elected President, I know it will and I can see a brighter future for all of us, and for our grandchildren.
